So this was a week of firsts.
First time #homeschooling junior high kids.
First time not driving my car for 4 days in a row.
First time having #PMS week during a government-mandated lockdown.
Times is weird.
While I went through a short period of #despair and #fear last week, this week I felt more #confident and #peaceful about the way things have to be right now.
I found myself in the #kitchen more, developing new and tasty #recipes with random things I found in the back of my cupboard.
I got to play five games of Kings in the Corner in a row with my 10 year old.
I watched as my awesome 14-year-old unwrapped and built a 15 foot trampoline for me.
We got to have some this is real #parenting moments as well. You probably did, too. Well done, #mama!
That said, I almost didn't have time to think about my impending #period. Every single month, my #cycle gets nearly imperceptively better. The only lasting vestiges of a once heinous period are the two days of moodiness I get.
I don't really #cry, or yell anymore. I just feel a little...dark.
Then I start my period, and you can't stop this sunshine! Go figure.
There is no #hormonal #perfection, and so I am ok with a small interruption of #moodiness. I don't have #pain, or crazy #cramps, or huge #clots, or night sweats anymore. I know exactly the day my period is coming because it is so regular. These are great strides for a woman's hormones, and I am super thankful for the slow balance that has been happening as I continue to work on my own hormonal health.
I want the same thing for you, and so I ran a short video series on Facebook this week, giving you small and actionable principles on how to work on balancing your hormones during quarantine.
I hope they help you! Let me know if you have any questions, and tune in to Facebook next week as I break down a listener's question:
"I'm having problems w/ my monthly friend (aka period). It's on and off again and it's been going since the 14th. Is there anything I could do or take, so I don't have to go to the Dr. I do have high blood pressure, diabetes 2, high testosterone and pcos."
I told her that this question was too vast to respond to with a single Facebook statement, but that I would break it down, piece by piece, each afternoon next week. Tune in mid afternoon on Monday as we start this series!
